Derek Ingram is in his third season as “The Voice of the Cubs.” Derek grew up in Bowling Green, Missouri. He graduated from Missouri State University with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism. Derek started his professional play-by-play career as the sports director at a radio station near St. Louis. He also hosted a sports television show and has three years of newspaper experience. In 2006 & 2007, Derek called the Florida State League All-Star Game and was part of the Cubs’ staff which won the Bob Freitas Award. He says the highlight of his job is mingling with Cubs fans including Front Row Joe, Sharky (or Sparky) and the Drosten Clan. A life-long fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Derek lists Opening Day at Busch Stadium in 1998 as his favorite baseball moment. He also follows the St. Louis Rams and his alma mater, the Missouri State Bears. Derek is a collector of sports collectibles including vintage baseball cards, Starting Lineup figures and bobblehead dolls. He resides in Daytona Beach with his wife, Katie and dog, Pujols. Derek and Katie attend First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach. Derek is also the host of the television program "Inside Daytona Cubs Baseball" on WCEU Channel 15. The show airs on Wednesday's at 11:00 p.m. and Sunday's at 6:30 p.m. |
