Brian Chapman - Assistant Director of Broadcasting

Brian ChapmanBrian Chapman is in his first season of broadcasting Daytona Cubs baseball. Brian grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. in Journalism (emphasis in sports journalism.)

Brian began broadcasting as a freshman on Penn State’s ComRadio as a freshman in 2003. There he hosted two sports talk shows and a news talk show. As a news reporter he placed fourth in the nation in the prestigious National Hearst Awards Competition in the News Radio category. As a senior, Brian was a reporter and an anchor on WPSU-TV’s “Centre County Report.”

Brian also called Penn State baseball, football, basketball and volleyball. In the summer of 2007 he called State College Spikes baseball (Pirates, short season) on ComRadio.

After suffering through 12 consecutive losing seasons, Brian considers watching the Detroit Tigers make the 2006 playoffs to be his favorite baseball moment. Brian also cheers hard for his Penn State Nittany Lions and Detroit Pistons. He also reluctantly admits to being a Detroit Lions fan.

When he’s not at work or rooting hard for his teams Brian can be found reading magazines, listening to music, creating rap music, working out and, since moving to Daytona, enjoying long walks on the beach.

Brian is also an assistant producer for the television program “Inside Daytona Cubs Baseball” on WCEU Channel 15. The show airs Wednesdays at 11 pm and Sundays at 6:30 pm during the season.
